Fender Custom Shop® Telecaster® Relic, Lake Placid Blue - Sold

This Fender Custom Shop® Telecaster guitar is a custom Ludlow specification and is very much a one-off model. It is based on the '51 Nocaster model and has been beautifully aged: the Lake Placid Blue finish has yellowed a little, and the checking is just magnificent. If you are into the aged thing, they really don't get any prettier than this.And it has a stunning matching headstock. As for pickups, it has the Twisted Tele in the neck, which lifts the output to the same sort of levels as a Strat neck pickup, so that the neck and the bridge are better balanced (and it sounds a bit more like a Strat pickup as well) and a hand-wound '50s style pickup on the bridge. Custom Shop guitars don't normally come with hand-wound pickups which to our ears do sound better than the regular CS models. This one was done personally by Abigail Ybarra who was responsible for winding Fender pickups back before they were taken over by CBS. It doesn't get much more authentic.
