Hondo® Hondo Model II, Metallic Red - Sold

We have not been able to find out too much about this very unusual guitar. The stickers on it indicate that it was made in Korea and that it is the Model II. Hondo made a Les Paul copy in the '80s that was designated the Model II and this certainly is no Gibson knockoff. We have also seen the guitar referred to as an H2 or Star guitar but again there are other Hondo models that appear to go by these names so we are not sure what it is beyond what it says on the sticker. It is likely that this guitar was made in the early '80s but we can't be certain about even this.

Beyond the extreme fins on this instrument, it is a Strat style guitar with two of the three normal Strat pickups, a tremolo bridge, a single volume and tone control and a pickup selector switch. Whilst the body is its own thing, the headstock is clearly Strat influenced. With its single coil pickups this does sound as much like a Strat as anything else but someone wanting this guitar is looking at more than just the pickup configuration and neck access to the 24th fret. The body shape is an extreme '80s take on '50s American automobile tail fins and the shape will stand out no matter what. This guitar is guaranteed to do more for you than the Roland G-707 guitar did for Sigue Sigue Sputnik. Not everyone would see that as a good thing. But we know that there are some of you out there for whom this sort of visual is compelling.

Apart from a gash at the end of one of the fins, which you can clearly see in the pictures, this guitar is very clean and is in good playing condition.
