GibsonĀ® Melody Maker 1967, Vintage White - Sold

The Melody Maker was introcuced in 1959 as the student or starter guitar for the Gibson line. Although using the same scale length as its more prestigious cousins, the Melody Maker's body was not as deep and the headstock was narrower. The guitar went through a number of body shape changes, ending up by 1966 with the familiar SG shape, having two slightly non-symetrical horns. This one has the original tremolo arm and two Gibson single coil pickups that were exclusive to these Melody Maker Models.

This one is from 1967. When we came by this piece it had been cleverly refinished with housepaint. We decided that this was the perfect guitar to test our new refinishing facility and we thought that vintage white would look cool. Check out the bunch of detailed pictures and see what you think. Apart from the meticulous new paint job, this has a new scratchplate and more useable three way knob. The pickups sounded very thin when we got the guitar and while the body was away being refinished we sent the pickups to Bare Knuckle and had them re-wound. And all the better they are for it. The rest of the hardware seems to be original. The guitar has had a proper setup and it plays nicely.
