This is something we worked up ourselves in conjunction with Mu Amplification here in New York. This is a 7 watt hand-wired, all tube, class A amp for home and studio use.

It has seemingly simple controls: volume bass and treble and a three-position voicing switch. The tone controls work in an unusual way: they are highly interactive and the neutral position with both controls set at zero. Turning up the treble control boosts the top end but at the same time cuts the bass. This makes for a lot of subtle changes that can be made across the tonal spectrum. The voicings are:

Normal
Treble boost
Mid and treble boost

With more boost the power tubes are hit harder and there is successively more overdrive. But even in the normal position, with the amp all the way up you get sweet singing output tube distortion. Somewhere in here there is a Hiwatt monster that you can play in your bedroom (within limits).

Also, the power amp tubes are switchable (6V6, 5881, 6L6, etc.) so the tone of the amp can further be changed by simply turning the amp off, pulling a tube and putting a new one in.

We spent quite a bit of time tweaking this amp until it was right. Come into the store and hear it for yourself.
