Keeley® Ibanez TS-808 Mod/ True Bypass - New

The new TS-808 offers a vintage look and sound. You might ask why this pedal needs modificatin since it's already the holy grail of Tubescramers its JRC chip. But it does. If you look at the board, it is exactly the same as the TS9 and has the same faults. Areas that need improvement are its limited bass response that cuts so much that it appears as a huge midrange hump in the sound, its limited gain range (the pedal doesn't get clean enough nor does it get enough distortion). So Keely increased the gain range and improved transparency, removing the muddiness that had been a problem for many users.

The bass response is improved to the point of perfection. It is nice and tight and not muddy at all. Keeley upgraded that cap from a 0.047 to a 0.1uF and at the same time increased the gain possible. They also make the pedal so it cleans up more. This is the more/less mod. You get both more drive and less drive as well as all the sweet stock spots in the middle of the control. They also upgraded the electrolytic caps to high tolerance, great sounding, more consistent metal film caps. This type of thing is done in all HI-FI stereo and audio gear, not normally guitar effects pedals

Keeley also improved parts of the FET switching so that you have a better, clearer tone, both on and off. Obviously, this is not the kinda of mojo many others talk about. So think twice before buying something else on line. Come into Ludlow and actually listen to this pedal.
