Guild® Guild S-60 D, Mahogany - Sold

In the late1970s, Guild had a line of electric guitars under the S-60 designation. The straight S-60 had a single Guild humbucker whereas the S-60 D had dual single-coil DiMarzio pickups. This was originally the S-60 D version. The guitar was subsequently modified with two P90s and a new pickguard for the new pickups. The original pickguard is included with the guitar along with a third pickguard (a white version of the one on the gutiar now). Both pickguards are shown in the photo series. The original pickguard has a couple of pickups in but not the original Super Distortion DiMarzios but single-coil-sized rail humbuckers. We have not tried the guitar with this pickguard. The P90s have been installed in a thoroughly professional manner. The new pickguard is custom made and a nice mahogany insert has been used to secure the pickups (see final picture).

The pictures tell the story on this instrument. It has aged beautfuly with wonderful checking. The 24 fret neck is straight and the guitar plays well with a great P90 bark.

The line came out in 1977 and ran through into the early '80s. Using the Guild numbering system, this guitar dates to 1974, which obviously is not right. We would guess that it is from the late '70s but can't be sure.
