IdealĀ® Gretsch Copy 1960s, White - Sold

This is a rather peculiar copy. The Japanese company Ideal made a number of different Gretsch equivalents in the early 1960s. This one is really neither one thing or the other. Its body and headstock shape are an approximation of the Gretsch solidbodies from the period such as the various Jet series. However, this is an 'F' hole hollowbody, which Gretsch only did in their larger body models. We would love to know what the design process was for this guitar but likely this is lost forever in the history closet for odd guitars.

This guitar has the typical flavor of a '60s Japanese import. The pickups have a clear, open, single-coil ring but you will not mistake this guitar for a Fender, or a Gretsch for that matter; It has its own sound.
