Gretsch® Gretsch Carousel - Vintage

Now this is both a rare and unusual amp.It is from the early '60s and was made for Gretsch by Valco. But it is not quite what you might expect. Inside it looks just like any tube amp from the period, except you can't find the tubes. It has an elemental circuit board and had been hand-wired with transistors. No integrated circuits here, these transistors are great big individual hunks. And you might not know by listening to it that it wasn't glowing inside with hot vacuum tubes. Certainly it is a bit lighter than you might expect but otherwise you could easily be fooled. The amp has a high and low input, a tremolo circuit with speed and depth, plus volume and tone controls. And a unique speaker configuration: two original Jensens, one 10" and one 3".
